Macrodose Journeys
A Macrodose is intended for therapeutic use. These usually start at 2,5g of active mushroom and can go up to 5g (so-called "hero" or "ego death" dose) and last between 6 and 8 hours. These need to be facilitated in a safe space, preferably in near-total darkness (at night), with sacred intentions to allow healing and transformation to take place and to hold space for this to occur. Therapeutic doses are curated per person with specific intentions set in advance.
*Please consider the recommended protocol is to have two sessions within six to twelve weeks of one another to achieve full therapeutic benefits.
Benefits of a Macrodose
Macrodoses have been shown to reduces depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, anxiety, chronic pain, pent-up trauma, sleep disorders, complex grief and more. Macrodoses are currently being researched for dementia, eating disorders, ADHD, PTSD and treatment-resistant depression.
A macrodose makes big shift and can often result in a mystical experience or, what is commonly called, "ego death." Prolonged and sustained relief from symptoms has been reported from several studies; in some cases, relief has been reported for up to 6 years.
Usually two macrodoses would be required within a 3 month period for optimum benefits.
How we facilitate a macrodose:
Client will fast from food and caffeine from 12pm (lunch time.)
Arrival/Meeting time is approx 5pm.
Medicine will be administered between 5 and 5:15.
The "ascend" begins approximately 40 minutes later.
A usual journey lasts for 4 - 6 hours.
The guide will sit with the client until the journey has abated and the client feels normal.
Clients are usually well enough to drive home afterwards.
The next day will be an "afterglow" day - it might be emotionally vulnerable or edgy. Thus, it is advisable to have the day off from work in case there are experiences that need to be processed, or in the case of fatigue.
Clients who have epilepsy, high blood pressure or are on SSRI/SSNI medications or Benzodiazepines need to please consult their doctor before considering medicinal active mushrooms at large doses.
