ADHD and other Neurodivergences

Emerging research and anecdotal reports suggest that psychedelics, particularly psilocybin, may offer promising support for individuals with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence. These substances appear to enhance focus, emotional regulation, and self-awareness by temporarily altering default neural patterns and promoting neuroplasticity. For those who experience overwhelm, chronic distraction, or difficulty connecting inwardly, a well-held psychedelic experience can provide moments of stillness, insight, and reconnection to purpose. While not a cure or replacement for ongoing support, psychedelics—combined with thoughtful preparation and integration—can help neurodivergent individuals access new tools for self-understanding and healing.

Adults with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often struggle with emotion regulation (ER), impacting their empathic skills and relationships. ADHD medication might not be as effective for ER issues as for ADHD symptoms. Microdosing (MD) psychedelics has shown promise for ADHD treatment and previous studies reported social-emotional benefits.

The first line for symptom management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a class of medications that act on dopamine and noradrenaline receptors, which leads to symptom reduction at the cost of significant side effects. These side effects have led to community searching for alternative methods that manage ADHD symptoms in adults that lead to less side effects.

The lingering stimulant medication shortage has prompted some individuals with ADHD to seek alternatives to first-line treatments that are no longer readily available. The shortage has also sparked widespread marketing by companies selling alternative “treatments” to ease the symptoms of ADHD.

Microdosing vs. Adderall... Is there a better alternative to those diagnosed with ADHD? Because of unwanted side effects and long-term risks to health of ADHD medications like adderall, ritalin and vyvanse, those with ADHD may ask whether managing their symptoms is worth the high cost of these drugs. Microdosing psychedelics, however, could provide a solution. In this video, we’ll explore microdosing to treat ADD/ADHD, investigating the research, and comparing microdosing to adderall and other ADHD medications.
